Academics
Progression to Graduation and Beyond

Out-of-school time – after school and summer – is the most critical and overlooked opportunity to help youth reach their full potential and have a great future. At Boys & Girls Clubs, we offer academic programs and hands-on learning opportunities that complement and reinforce what kids learn in school. Our programs let kids and teens explore interests at their own pace and equip them with skills they’ll need to advance from kindergarten to 12th grade, and graduate from high school on time, ready to succeed in college, the military or a career.
SUMMER LEARNING
Each summer in America, an estimated 43 million children miss out on expanded learning opportunities that could prevent them from falling behind in school. Summer learning losses can stack up from year to year and harm their chances of progressing to the next grade or even graduating from high school. To help kids stay on track for the coming school year, BGCA developed Summer Brain Gain – a learning loss prevention program
STEM
BGCA is committed to developing globally competitive graduates and closing the opportunity gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), especially for girls and minority youth. BGCA’s after-school and summer learning environments provide unique opportunities to advance STEM knowledge, and help kids and teens progress through grades on time, ready for high school graduation and beyond.
GRADUATION
In America, one in five high school students fails to graduate on time every year. As the number one advocate for youth, BGCA has committed to helping 1.4 million teens stay on track to graduate from high school, and to ensuring that, by 2018, 70 percent of Club seniors are college-bound. BGCA offers enrichment programs to prepare teens to succeed in today’s globally competitive workforce.
